Media: aerosol through stupidpencil

I've been working with stereo images for 9 years now, since creating the piece at Urban Games in 1999. Although that painting was created backwards (the red lens must be over the RIGHT eye for it to work), I have sharpened the technique with large paintings. I had to develop some other way of making more portable works.

I also try to keep any colour transfer via aerosol paint, so creating editions were either going to be scaled-down reductions of aerosol murals or drawn in some other medium. Since authoring a stereoscopic print for Liverpool clothing label Felix Blow I have wished to develop a method that is sympathetic to my aerosol based colour and crystal clear 3D effects. There is nothing more frustrating than going to all that effort of wearing the glasses, when the 3D work is not as sharp as it can be.

This has led me recently to create the work via stencil (or stupid-pencil). Each of the two versions required for the stereo effect can be produced in their own likeness, enhancing the 3D stereo as it should.
