2001 documentary

2001 documentary

During 2001 I lived in a squat in London with my friend of 18 years Boyd (another writer). We basically had the run of a warehouse near Paddington Green.

It soon came to our attention that the building was to be demolished to make way for new developments. So, we had two weeks to live out this private utopia. We decided to paint the now vacated middle floor, where eastern europeans used to reproduce furniture. We had the Bristol paint, the aerosol and friends to share the experience of this building and its surroundings.

We spent 4 days plotting the painting, catching breakfast (and a wash) from the 50s ice cream cafe on Edgware Road. This was only a few weeks after the Twin Towers were destroyed by two airplanes. It was decided to have ITCH FM do the sound for the night, from a little transistor radio in the corner, 105.15.

We were contacted by a director (Huse Monfaradi) who got wind of this event, we met and hit it off so he filmed the run up to the event. It's since been shown at Portobello Film Festival but recently I posted a version of it on YouTube.

Hope you enjoy this insight into our creative process...
